A season that began with promise has been a major disappointment.

The offense is inconsistent Youth Cameron Johnston Jersey , the defense has wasted several leads in the second half, and a slew of injuries has left the team short-handed in key areas.Still, the Eagles (4-5) are in the mix in a mediocre NFC East."There is a level of frustration, but listen, we're very close," coach Doug Pederson said Wednesday. "We're so close in a lot of areas. You look at our output and production offensively, we're very similar to where we were last year."The difference is creating turnovers on defense and then scoring in the red zone. That's kind of what's staring at us right in the face. We have to finish better, and we have to score more points."The Eagles have lost three straight games at home, including 27-20 to the Cowboys (4-5). They have four games remaining against division opponents, including two versus first-place Washington (6-3). Next up is a difficult game on the road against the New Orleans Saints (8-1). Philadelphia is a 9-point underdog."I never want to throw around the word desperate," quarterback Carson Wentz said. "We realize where we're at. We know where the division is at. We don't want to overthink anything. We have a tough matchup against a great team. We're cognizant of it. We'll go there and give our best effort."Pederson spoke to the team's leadership committee before practice to get a sense of morale and came away optimistic."They're all disappointed obviously in the performance the other day," he said. "They're eager to get back on the practice field and they're excited for this week and this opportunity. I think they understand what's in front of them."They know that the sense of urgency in practice, it's not a panic or anything other than just a sense of urgency of understanding your job, doing your job, doing it collectively, and making sure that they just focus on one play at a time. I really do feel like they're in a good place and they're positive about the future."The Eagles overcame several key injuries last season on their way to a 13-3 record and the franchise's first Super Bowl title. Nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters, running back Darren Sproles Youth Fletcher Cox Jersey , linebacker Jordan Hicks, special-teams captain Chris Maragos and Wentz each sustained season-ending injuries.Already, running back Jay Ajayi, safety Rodney McLeod and cornerback Ronald Darby are out for the rest of this season. Sproles has only played one game, wide receivers Mike Wallace and Mack Hollins are on injured reserve, defensive tackle Tim Jernigan hasn't returned yet from offseason surgery, and Maragos also hasn't come back."Last couple weeks it's been really urgent around here," Wentz said. "Urgency is always there. Every week is crucial and important."The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the last champion to have a losing record the following season when they were 7-9 in 2003.NOTES: CB Jalen Mills (foot), DT Haloti Ngata (knee), TE Joshua Perkins (knee), and Sproles (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday. T Lane Johnson (knee) and CB Sidney Jones (hamstring) were limited. Darnell Savage, S, Maryland v. Michigan State (12 PM on ESPN2)Excited about this top name prospect, folks. Savage is a hitter on the backend for the Terrapins who is unafraid to fly downhill to the football — but I think he’s rangy enough to play deep. He does have good strength as a nickel rotation player, though I’m excited to get deeper into his man coverage ability in the future. - SolakJD Spielman, WR, Nebraska v. Ohio State (12 PM on FOX)Spielman and teammate Stanley Morgan Jr. actually comprise quite the formidable duo for a Nebraska team that has underperformed this season. Ohio State brings a staunch secondary to the match-up Womens Brandon Graham Jersey , with healthy corners in Damon Arnette and Kendall Sheffield returning to the field. Spielman is only a redshirt sophomore, but has impressed with the ball in his hands this season. - SolakJosh Allen, Edge, Kentucky v. Georgia (3:30 PM on CBS)Few defensive lineman have had as productive a season as Josh Allen. The Kentucky junior has been integral to the Wildcats’ impressive season. Georgia’s balanced, explosive offense will be in Allen’s crosshairs this Saturday and his performance could dictate the game. - NatanRiley Ridley, WR, Georgia v. Kentucky (3:30 PM on CBSBrother of Calvin Ridley — yeah, the ‘Bama wideout and first round pick of the Atlanta Falcons — Riley plays at rival Georgia. He doesn’t get nearly the volume his older brother did at the FBS level, but you could argue that Riley is more physically talented. He’s better in contested catch situations and loves to climb the latter; he’s also got a staunch test in Kentucky CB Derrick Baity awaiting him in this big SEC match-up. - SolakDavid Sills, WR, WVU V. Texas (3:30 PM on Fox)In what is poised to be a high scoring affair, the skill players will be on full display. David Sills is enjoying a huge senior season where he has 9 touchdowns on less than 40 catches. Texas’ defense has been stronger this year than in seasons passed, but Sills is Will Grier’s favorite target and should see a healthy dose of opportunities to make big plays in a huge game. - NatanGarrett Bradbury, iOL, NC State v. Florida State (3:30 PM on ABC)Slept on nationally, Bradbury is a super mobile pivot for the Wolfpack, and much credit of NC State’s strong rushing attack over the last few seasons belongs to Bradbury’s work in the middle. As a pass protector Youth Nick Foles Jersey , he’s lacking in size and ideal power — but we’re seeing that matter less and less at the NFL level (just look at Jason Kelce!). Florida State’s got some big boys up front though, so this is a nice test. - SolakMiles Sanders, RB, PSU v. Michigan (3:45 PM on ESPN)In the shadow of Saquon Barkley’s leaving for the NFL, Miles Sanders has shone this season. With over 800 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on the ground, Sanders has taken over as the spark for the Nittany Lion offense. His number is sure to be called several times against a very talented Michigan defense and his ability to punish the Wolverines on every carry will weigh heavily on his NFL prospects. - NatanCorrion Ballard, Safety, Utah v. ASU (4 PM on ESPN)Utah is flying under the radar as a ranked team and their senior leader on defense is similarly underrated. Corrion Ballard is a 6-3, 200 pound defender with experience at both safety positions. He’s a smart and physical player who has been key in the Ute’s success this season. ASU has a lot of big play potential on offense and Ballard will be called on against the run and pass to limit a resurgent Sun Devils team. - NatanGarrett Brumfield, iOL, LSU v. Alabama (8 PM on CBS)Nobody on the field has a bigger test than Brumfield, who will be tasked with handling Alabama’s latest monstrosity, defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. Brumfield is a dancing bear out there who still needs technical advancements, but his physical upside is as good as any guard prospect I’ve seen thus far in the 2019 class. He’ll garner quite a few fans if he has a good game under the biggest spotlight of college football. - SolakGreedy Williams, CB, LSU v. Alabama (8 PM on CBS)The Marquee Matchup of the weekend is easily the top three match between LSU and Alabama. The Roll Tide is arguably fielding their best offense ever with inarguably their most explosive passing game. Greedy Williams is still largely regarded as the best cornerback prospect in the country and he will need to perform like it on Saturday night if LSU wants a chance to take down the behemoth of Alabama. - Natan
